The WinnMed Auxiliary is hosting a used book sale on Monday, August 10 and Tuesday, August 11 from 9 am – 4 pm in WinnMed’s lower-level conference rooms. The Auxiliary is accepting donations of used books for the sale through August 7 at WinnMed’s Main Entrance, or by calling Karla Bakken at 563-387-3036. All genres of books are welcome.
Reach Out and Read is a new program at WinnMed. According to their website, Reach Out and Read partners with clinicians and “leverages the well-child visit, using books and shared reading to support caregivers in fostering early literacy and healthy relationships with infants and young children. The only literacy model endorsed by the American Academy of Pediatrics, Reach Out and Read annually serves 4.6 million children across every U.S. state.”

The Auxiliary’s used book fundraiser will provide the funds to purchase new books for families with young children who receive care at WinnMed. The Auxiliary also funded furniture for the Reach Out and Read Children’s Area in Decorah Clinic.
