Sherry Bouska of Ridgeway, Iowa brightens the day of young patients at Winneshiek Medical Center Same Day Services. She creates and donates fun, colorful pillowcases the patients see as soon as they enter their room. Winneshiek Medical Center staff share, “The kids love the pillowcases! They help ease their nerves, and it creates a comfortable environment. Plus they get to take the pillowcase home following their procedure.”
“Sherry has donated these pillowcases for several years at her own expense, and does a beautiful job of sewing them,” states Holly Kanengieter, WMC Foundation Coordinator. Winneshiek Medical Center uses roughly 180 pillowcases per year and the average cost is $4 – $5 per case. This year MiEnergy Cooperative donated $600 towards the project through their Operation Round-Up program. Kanengieter shares, “We are very appreciative of the donation to help support the continuation of this project for our young patients.”
