WinnMed has awarded Family Medicine nurse practitioner, Samantha Reicks, ARNP, DNP, the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses, a national recognition celebrating nurses who deliver exceptional care.
Samantha was nominated by a patient who highlighted her attentive approach, clear communication, and dedication to listening and looking beyond immediate concerns. Reicks took the time to thoroughly explain her evaluation process, ensuring her patient understood each step and felt comfortable throughout the visit. By asking thoughtful follow-up questions and considering the broader picture of the patient’s health, she exemplified the kind of care that makes patients feel truly heard and supported. This recognition highlights Reicks’ dedication to advocating for her patients’ health needs. Her care highlights the lasting impact of pairing clinical skills with genuine compassion. Samanatha has been a member of the WinnMed team since 2017.
The DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune SYstem) Award is an international recognition program that honors and celebrates the skillful care nurses provide every day. The DAISY Foundation was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes after he died from complications of the auto-immune disease ITP in 1999. During his hospitalization, they deeply appreciated the care and compassion shown to Patrick and his entire family. When he died, they felt compelled to say “thank you” to nurses in a very public way.
