Beginning May 1, 2026, there will be a $5 flat fee per package for prescriptions that are mailed. This helps us cover rising mailing costs, including USPS rate increases that took effect April 26, 2026.
Patients who use the mail prescription service were sent a letter that outlined several ways to help reduce or avoid this fee:
1. Our medication synchronization program can line up maintenance refills so they’re ready at the same time, which can mean fewer mailings. We always contact the patient by phone or text first. We never refill or mail medications without patient approval.
2. We offer free delivery in Decorah, Monday through Friday, and to the Ossian Clinic on Tuesdays and Fridays. Because of pharmacy regulations, someone must be home to receive deliveries. We’re always glad to work with the patient to find a good time.
3. Many patients also choose to have prescriptions picked up by a family member, friend, or trusted neighbor. To help us keep medications safe, anyone picking up for a patient must know their date of birth, phone number, and address so our staff can confirm the correct patient. For added convenience, patients may keep a credit card securely on file, making mailing or pickup by others simple and worry free.
