Our fully renovated Surgery Unit was designed with advanced technology, efficiency, and patient comfort at the forefront.
WinnMed provides a wide range of surgical care, including general surgery, OB/GYN procedures, endoscopic procedures (such as colonoscopy and EGD), and minimally invasive treatments. Surgeons use advanced techniques—including robotic‑assisted surgery with the da Vinci 5 Surgical System—to offer smaller incisions, greater precision, faster recovery, and reduced postoperative pain.
The final phase of WinnMed’s Transforming Tomorrow expansion project is complete, marking an exciting milestone in our commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care close to home. This last phase brings significant enhancements to our Surgery Unit—designed with advanced technology, efficiency, and patient comfort at the forefront.
At the heart of the expanded unit are four modern operating rooms, thoughtfully designed to support a wide range of procedures. One of these rooms is dedicated to the da Vinci 5 robotic surgical system, allowing surgeons to perform minimally invasive procedures with enhanced precision, flexibility, and control. This technology supports faster recovery times and improved outcomes for many patients.
In addition to the operating rooms, the unit now includes two procedure rooms specifically designed for scope procedures. These spaces increase capacity for these important procedures, helping reduce wait times while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
A key highlight of the expansion is the new Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). This dedicated recovery space provides a calm, closely monitored environment where patients receive specialized care immediately following surgery. The PACU was designed to support both patient comfort and efficient workflow for clinical teams, ensuring a smooth transition from surgery to recovery.
At WinnMed, we are committed to providing comprehensive surgical care, offering a wide range of procedures designed to deliver high‑quality, patient‑focused care that supports faster recovery and improved outcomes. Surgical Specialties at WinnMed include:

WinnMed is proud to bring the latest in surgical innovation to northeast Iowa with the addition of the da Vinci 5 Surgical System. This advanced robotic-assisted technology allows our surgeons to perform complex procedures with greater precision, smaller incisions, and faster recovery times for patients.
Robotic-assisted surgery combines the expertise of our surgical team with the power of advanced technology. The da Vinci 5 system translates the surgeon’s hand movements into smaller, more precise actions using tiny instruments and a high-definition 3D camera. This allows for enhanced control and visibility during surgery—especially in delicate or hard-to-reach areas.
